How does a job go from booked to invoiced?

A job moves Scheduled, On the way, In progress, Done. One button on the job takes the next step, and the last one makes the invoice.

Updated October 22, 2026

Every job goes through four stages: Scheduled, On the way, In progress and Done. One button on the job always shows the next step. When the job is done, the same button makes the invoice.

Also called: job status, job stages, work order status, job workflow, statut du travail, étapes des travaux, suivi des travaux, job, technicien en route, facturer

Step 1: Open the job

Open Jobs. The Board shows one column per stage, with each job as a card. Click a card to open the job, or use the button right on the card. List shows the same jobs in a table.

Click: Jobs › the job

Step 2: Move it forward with one button

The button changes with the stage:

  • Scheduled: click On the way when you leave.

  • On the way: click Start when you arrive. The Time on site starts counting.

  • In progress: click Finish when the work is done.

  • Done: click Invoice to bill it.

Each click shows a short message with Undo, in case you tapped by mistake.

Click: On the way › Start › Finish › Invoice

Step 3: Or drag the card

On the Board, drag a card to another column to move the job there. It also shows a message with Undo.

Step 4: Bill it

A finished job sits in Done, to invoice until it's billed. Click Invoice on it. On the job's own page, the big button reads Finish and invoice with the amount: one click marks it done and makes the invoice. The job then shows "Invoiced:" with the invoice number.

Click: Invoice

Good to know

  • If Technician on the way is on in Settings › Automatic messages, the customer gets a text when the job turns On the way.

  • Want different steps, like "Parts ordered"? Go to Settings › Stages, then Jobs. Name your steps and pick what each one Behaves like. The button then moves the job to your next step by its name.

  • Teammates who only view jobs see the stages but get no buttons.

  • You can ask Ask Alori: "Mark the Chen job done."

If it doesn't work

  • "Already invoiced: #…" This job has an invoice already. Open it from "Invoiced:" on the job.

  • "Sign in to make changes." You were signed out. Sign in again, then click the button.

  • "That didn't work. Try again." The job didn't move. Try again in a moment.

  • "Keep at least one stage that behaves like …" In Settings › Stages, each kind of step needs at least one stage.
