How do I add relation, rollup, formula and button columns?

Add a column and pick Relation to link rows of another database, Rollup to sum them up, Formula to work a value out, or Button to change a row in one click.

Updated October 26, 2026

Click + at the end of the column titles and pick Relation, Rollup, Formula or Button. Set it up in the same menu, then click Create.

Also called: link databases, lookup, linked records, rollup, formula, calculated field, button, relation, cumul, formule, bouton.

Pick Relation, then the database under Related to. Tick Show on the other database too to see the link from both sides, and name it under Name there. In a cell, click to Link a row, then search and pick one or more.

Click: + › Relation › Related to › Create

Step 2: Sum up linked rows with a Rollup

Pick Rollup, then the Relation to follow, the Property to read on the linked rows, and how to Calculate: Count all, Sum, Average, Min, Max, Percent checked or Show original. Add a relation first if there is none.

Click: + › Rollup › Calculate › Sum

Step 3: Work a value out with a Formula

Pick Formula and type it, like prop("Price") * prop("Qty"). The result on the first row shows as you type. Formulas know math, text, dates and lists, with if, ifs, round, sum, dateAdd, dateBetween, formatDate, contains, join and more. A formula updates by itself when the row changes.

Not sure how to write it? Type what it should show in the Ask AI: describe what it should show… box above the formula, like "Big when the budget is over 1000", and press Enter: AI writes the formula, and its result on the first row shows right away so you can check it.

Click: + › Formula › Create

Step 4: Change a row in one click with a Button

Pick Button. Under When pressed, set, pick a column and the value it gets, and add a link under Then open a link (optional). Each row gets a Run button.

Click: + › Button › Create

If it doesn't work

  • A linked row shows as "No access": it's in a page you can't open. It stays linked when you change the cell.

  • "This formula uses itself through another column. Remove that column from it.": two formulas point at each other. Take one out.

  • "Alori fills this property in. It can't be changed by hand.": formulas and rollups work themselves out; change the columns they read instead.

  • "This relation also shows in another database that you can't change or that is locked. Ask someone who can edit both.": deleting a relation shown on both sides, or changing its type, changes the other database too. Changing a relation to another type empties its cells.

  • A formula cell shows an error: check the column names inside prop("…") match exactly.
