How do I use my bot in Slack or Discord?
Connect Slack or Discord from your bot's page, then send the bot a direct message or @mention it in a channel. It answers in the thread.
Connect Slack or Discord, then send your bot a direct message or @mention it in a channel. It answers in the thread (in Discord, as a reply). It's the same bot and the same conversation as on its page in Alori.
Also called: Slack bot, Discord bot, team chat, @mention, DM, messagerie d'équipe, clavardage, mentionner le bot
Step 1: Connect Slack or Discord
Open Bots and your bot. Under Who can text and call me, a card shows for Slack and for Discord while they aren't connected. Click Connect and allow Alori. When it's done, the card says "Done: your bot can use Slack now." (or Discord).
In Discord, the bot joins your whole server. Leave Administrator ticked so it can see every channel, private ones too.
Click: Bots › your bot › Connect
Step 2: Message the bot
Send the bot a direct message, or type @ and pick it in a channel. Ask anything you'd ask it in Alori: "How much did we invoice this month?" or "Add a task for Marc to call the Tremblays."
Once connected, the bot's page says: "Your team can also message me in Slack: a DM, or @mention me in a channel."
Step 3: Have it post on its own
Ask the bot to post for you, for example: "Each time a deal is created, post it in our #sales channel on Slack." It sets up an automation. In Discord, it finds a channel by its name, even with an emoji in front.
Who the bot knows
Recognized on their own. Whoever connected Discord is known. In Slack, someone whose profile email matches a teammate's is that teammate. Their row on the bot's page says "Talks to me in Slack".
Anyone else in your workspace or server can ask questions and look things up, but can't change or send anything yet. The bot asks for the email or mobile number they have on the team, sends a 6-digit code there, and they type it back. The code works for 15 minutes.
Messages in Slack and Discord show in the conversation as In Slack or In Discord.
If it doesn't work
"I couldn't read that one. Type @, pick me from the members (not the Alori role), and send it again. Or DM me." You mentioned the Alori role. Pick the bot itself from the members.
"This Discord server isn't connected to Alori." Connect Discord again in Alori and pick this server.
"This Discord isn't connected to Alori anymore." The owner connects Discord again in Alori.
"I can't find that on the team." Use the email or mobile the owner has for you, or ask them to add you in Alori.
"That's not the code." Check the code and type it again. After "Too many tries.", send your email or mobile again for a new code.
The bot can't post in a private Discord channel. Connect Discord again and leave Administrator ticked.
