How do I see and restore an earlier version of a page?
Open ••• › Page history, pick a version to see it, then click Restore. The page as it was before stays in the history.
Every page keeps its history while you write: one version for each stretch of editing, kept 90 days. Open Page history from the ••• menu, pick a version, and click Restore to bring it back.
Also called: version history, undo changes, previous version, revert, historique de la page, restaurer une version.
Step 1: Open Page history
On the page, click ••• at the top right, then Page history. You need to be able to edit the page.
Click: ••• › Page history
Step 2: Pick a version
The versions are on the left, newest first, with who edited in each. Click one to see the page as it was. A version marked Restore is a page someone brought back.
Step 3: Restore it
Click Restore. The page goes back to that version for everyone who has it open. The page as it was just before stays in the history, so you can go back again.
Click: Restore
If it doesn't work
"No versions yet. Docs saves one as you edit.": the page hasn't changed since history started. Write in it and a version appears.
Page history isn't in the menu: you can only view or comment on this page, or it's a database.
Restore is refused: the page is locked or in the trash. Unlock or restore the page first.
Versions older than 90 days are deleted.
